Beauty Trend: Milky Toner

Written by Julia on . Posted in Blog.

For a long time, toners were the most neglected step in the facial care routine. A few years ago, Korean essences brought momentum to the category: they became an essential moisturising skincare step - and not the astringent finishing touch to the make-up removal routine, as was previously the case in Europe.

A further development is the Cream Skin Refiner from the Korean brand Laneige. This is a hybrid product combining toner and moisturiser. The concept is exciting: the product has the texture of a liquid milky-cloudy toner and at the same time moisturises the skin like a cream. It contains a mixture of moisturisers, emollients and active ingredients such as panthenol and ceramides.

The milky toner trend is taking off

The American trendsetter Hailey Bieber took up this new product category of ‘Milky Toner’ and developed the Glazing Milk of her brand Rhode. The milky, liquid product is best applied directly to the skin with the hands, moisturising and strengthening the skin barrier. It also provides the desired glazed glow.

Another example is the Boum-Boum Milk from French make-up artist Violette, which is described as a ‘3-in-1 All Over Cream Spray’: It unites toner, serum and moisturiser in a single skincare step. The spray can be applied to the skin or even the hair as part of the skincare routine, but also in between.

Looking for even more options? The Milky Drops from the German brand Merme, which contain peptides as well as ceramides, come in a small bottle. The concept has also already arrived in the drugstore with the Milky Toner from Balea or the Milky Moisturiser from Isana.
