The second wave of K-Beauty has reached Europe and is now also appearing on the shelves of brick-and-mortar shops: not only online shops, but also drugstores and perfumeries are offering an ever-growing selection of Korean cosmetics.
Alongside classic Korean ingredients such as ginseng, rice and Centella asiatica, innovations such as PDRN and NAD+, as well as active ingredients for post-beauty-treatment care, are also all the rage in Korea.
K-beauty-inspired active ingredients
PDRN is now everywhere in Korea: these DNA fragments are found in many Korean cosmetic products and are in demand worldwide. PDRN Phycopeptide from our supplier Codif is derived from green microalgae and stimulates both regenerative processes and collagen synthesis in the skin.
Longevity is also a major trend in Korea – NAD+ is playing an increasingly important role not only in injections but also in cosmetic products. The active ingredient RejuveNAD™ by Mibelle Biochemistry has been proven to naturally increase NAD+ levels in skin cells, thereby effectively promoting their longevity and vitality.
In pharmacies in Seoul, there is particular demand for cosmetics that regenerate the skin following a beauty treatment. The active ingredient LenEasy® Zero by Transactiva is ideal for ‘post-procedure’ care. This ‘green’ peptide is obtained through plant molecular farming. It significantly reduces inflammatory reactions in the skin in a very short time and promotes calm skin.
Pantodium Cica by Codif also fits this trend. This fermented extract from a giant algae is the first active ingredient that enables the skin to produce vitamin B5 itself with the help of its microbiome. This makes Pantodium Cica a natural alternative to D-panthenol and helps to reduce inflammation, redness and scars.
